Ah and so at last, at long last may be more apt, we enter the 1990s and the years in which I was born in. Doctor Who had been off the air for a number of years and I'm sure many fans had given up hope that the Mad Man with a Box would re-appear on our screens, how wrong they were. In 1996 Doctor Who burst onto our screens once more in the form of a television movie. this was, effectively, an attempt by the Americans to get a piece of wonderful show and, perhaps, sadly it did not succeed. Although the new Doctor, the eighth as played by Paul McGann, is counted as an official Doctor it was left to Big Finish Audio and others to chronicle his adventures. Once again Doctor Who faded back into the wood work and so it would seemingly stay forever...or would it?.......
The Eighth Doctor
The romantic Doctor
An enduring vulnerability that contrasted with his sense of urgency and decisiveness
A flippant sense of humour
Met his end during the Time War, most likely alone
Love the big finish stuff. A;so love the Eighth Doctor books. If anyone knows where I could find a collected symposium of the comics, please give me a scream.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I dress as the eighth doctor at conventions! I dub the people I meet "official" companions of the eighth doctor to be ironic and to take a pot shot at the bbc, who hasn't declared the big finish audios canon DESPITE them airing on BBC radio!
